This painting began as random brush strokes against a wash of soft purple. Each stroke informed the next. Gradually, at first, without intention, forms began to emerge. In time, I began to imagine cathedral windows, but I did not want to paint literal windows. However, as the painting evolved I could not resist the pull to loosely develop a church, or at least the feeling of a church. I wanted a touch of realism but overall intended the painting to be more abstract. A good friend suggested the name (Cathedral of Dreams) and it felt like a perfect fit.
